Displaced children’s Education at a standstill: MoE
View(s):The prevailing devastation in the flood-affected areas, has brought the education of displaced children there, to a standstill.
Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has directed to distribute 3 sets of uniform material for every child, along with textbooks, exercise books and school shoes.
The MoE has also declared that all National schools in the country to be flood relief collection centres, to provide relief items for children in affected areas.
Mr. Gunarathne added that the MoE will reopen schools in the affected areas, after a thorough inspection of the school buildings, in assurance of the children’s safety. -  Shaadya Ismail
