Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo are well poised to clinch the championship in the Girls section at the end of the second day of the National Intermediate Swimming Championship 2017 at the Sugathadasa Swimming Complex yesterday.

Visakha Vidyalaya with 221.50 points are well ahead of Musaeus College, Colombo (173), Sri Lanka Army (117), Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya (101) and St. Anthony’s Girls College, Kandy (99 points) and in the Boys section Sri Lanka Army are at the helm with 267 points is closely followed by St. Joseph’s College, Colombo with 258 points. St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa, Ananda College, Colombo and Trinity College, Kandy with 101, 85, and 84 points occupy the 3rd, 4th and 5th places respectively.

Thirty four finals that were completed yesterday were won by Minara Gunapala (Musaeus College – Girls Under-11 50m Breaststroke 49.23), Vethum Kaluarachchi (St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa -Boys Under-11 50m Breaststroke 46.13), T. Sandesna Perera (Sri Sumangala Balika Vidyalaya – Girls Under-13 50m Breaststroke 44.07), S. Ranaweera (Trinity College, Kandy – Boys Under-13 50m Breaststroke 42.70), Samantha Tappin of Elizabeth Moir School (Girls Under-15 50m Breaststroke 43.94), H. Dassanayake (Ananda College – Boys Under-15 50m Breaststroke 37.22), R.A.C.D. Kumarihamy (DVP – Girls Under-18 50m Breaststroke 43.33), Gavika Heenatigala (Royal Institute – Boys Under-18 50m Breststroke 36.87), Isiwaruna De Silva (Royal College – Boys Under-18 and Over 50m Breaststroke 34.78).
