Sri Lanka was placed tenth out of eleven countries at the Asian Under-23 Men’s Volleyball Championships held in Iran.Sri Lanka took part in four matches and won only one which was against Uzbekistan. In the first game Sri Lanka lost to Japan 0-3.

In the second match they lost to Thailand after a tough fight at 2-3 and in the Classification Round, Uzbekistan beat Sri Lanka 3-0 as Sri Lanka obtained the 10th spot. Uzbekistan was placed ninth.

Iran won the championship while Japan emerged runners-up with Chinese Taipei finishing up at third place. This was the first time that a Sri Lanka Under-23 team took part in a championship of this nature
