Rt. Rev. Duleep de Chickera, former Bishop of Sri Lanka’s Anglican Church on Monday delivered a key note address on the Palestinian People’s struggle for social justice. The lecture organised by the newly formed Sri Lanka Journalists for Global Justice was held at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Insititute of International Studies. The Bishop in his address traced the history of the Palestinian people’s struggle for statehood and freedom from occupation. He urged the Palestinians to continue their struggle through peaceful means and international mechanisms. He lamented Israel’s failure to respect successive United Nations resolutions calling for Israel’s withdrawal from Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.
