The 15th David Pieris Group of Companies sponsored, ‘DPGC’ Challenge Trophy – MCA ‘E’ Division 30 over League Tournament 2017, reached its pre-quarter-final stage with the completion of the last batch of matches, last week-end.

The 16 top teams from the six groups advanced to the elimination round.

Highlights of the last set of league matches:

Thanks to the unbeaten century scored by Aravinda Rajapaksa (110 in 79 balls, inclusive of six sixes and 12 fours), Mast Far East managed their single win in tournament, beating Levers by seven wickets.

Nuwan Tharanga hit a hurricane 104 not out in 64 balls, inclusive of a half a dozen sixes and a dozen of fours, as he propelled Virtusa to a five wickets win over MAS Silueta ‘B’.

Nissanka de Silva of HSBC

A 132 runs opening stand in 86 balls by Prasad Buddhika (86) and Dilshan Rusiru (50) spearheaded Mercantile Investments to a 86 runs win over Emerchemie.

The unbroken 132 runs stand in 73 balls for 4th wicket between Sandun Sampath (89 not out ) and Sagara Upuldeniya (68 not out) enabled Vallibel Finance to post a 40 runs win over Bimputh Finance.

Emerchemie NB posted a comfortable seven wickets win over AIA Insurance riding on a solid 117 runs, 2nd wicket stand in 130 balls, between Migara Panditharatne (71 not out) and Rasindu Madusanka (46)

The best bowling for the week-end came from left arm, leg spinner, Athula Rajapaksa (6-1-27-5), whose effort gave Softlogic Finance a 52 runs win over CW Mackie.

The pre quarter-finals will be worked off this week-end, as follows:
