Women’s club football and Dialog Super Eight will commence next week

The Division One Women’s Football Championship will commence on February 7. This has been decided upon by the Sri Lanka Football Federation. Four teams are figuring in the competition. They are: Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force and Sri Lanka Police.

On February 7 there are two matches. The first match will be Sri Lanka Army vs Sri Lanka Navy at the Welisara Navy grounds. The next match will be between Sri Lanka Air Force and Sri Lanka Police at the Air Force ground Ekala on the same day.

The competition which is being conducted on a league basis will go on until March 14.

The Women’s Division Two contest is now over with Polgahawela SC having won the competition defeating Kotte SC 3-0 in the final.

Meanwhile the final stages of the Super Eight Dialog Champions League 2016 will be continued on February 11 and will go on until March 4.

On February 11 the competition will commence with the Renown SC vs Air Force SC game at the Kelaniya Football Complex. On February 12 Solid SC will take on Blue Star SC. On February 13 – Army SC will meet New Youngs SC; February 14 – Colombo FC vs Navy SC; February 17 – Solid SC vs Army SC; February 18 – Renown SC vs Navy SC; February 19 – Blue Star SC vs Colombo FC; February 25 – New Youngs SC vs Navy SC; February 26 – Air Force SC vs Solid SC; March 1 – New Youngs SC vs Air Force SC. All matches are to be played at the Kelaniya Football Complex.

There are two matches on March 4. The first match will be between Army and Blue Star. The second game will be between Renown SC and Colombo FC. These matches will be played at the Racecourse ground or at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

All eight teams in the Super Eight Round have completed four matches each. Defending champions Colombo FC are unbeaten and are ahead with ten points. Renown SC is in second place with 9 points. Blue Star is in third place with 8 points. These three teams are expected to figure prominently in the final round.
