Chamila Daminda of Commercial Bank (ComBank) ‘B’, Bimsara Thimal of MAS Silueta (MAS) ‘B’ and Purna Mediwaka of AIA Insurance (AIA), hogged the limelight in the opening round of matches in the 15th David Pieris Group of Companies sponsored, ‘DPGC’ Challenge Trophy, MCA ‘E’ Div. 30-Over League Tournament 2017, which got underway last weekend.

No.3 Chamila Daminda hit a hurricane 138 n.o. in 71 balls, with 15 sixes and 4 fours, as ComBank ‘B’ snuffed out Ceylon Tobacco Co.(CTC) by a huge margin of 115 runs.

Bimsara Thimal came up with a superb bowling performance of 6-0-26-6, to give MAS ‘B’ a heart-stopping 3-runs win over Unilever.

Purna Mediwaka’s excellent bowling effort of 6-0-30-5 did not bear fruit for AIA, as Mercantile Investments Ltd (MIL) coasted to a comprehensive 116 runs win, riding on a 115-runs opening stand between Skipper, Prasad Senaratne (59) and Dilshan Rusiru (54).
