R.J. Edwards and Ruwan Satharasinghe represented Sri Lanka at the second Kata and Kumite Referee Seminar held at the Al Ahli Club in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Edwards and Satharasinghe are among the elite and most experienced referees in Sri Lanka and the duo taking part on behalf of Sri Lanka Karate Federation is considered as a massive achievement.

“All the while we congratulate them on their massive achievement, we are certain that the merits of this experience will prove advantageous to Sri Lankan Karate in the forthcoming championships including the South Asian Karate Championship which will be hosted in the island this year,” an official communiqué of Sri Lanka Karate stated.

The Second Kata and Kumite Referee Seminar was conducted by the World Karate Federation with the auspices of its President. The event was vivid with the participation of a large number of leading figures including former world champions, Rafael Aghayev, Sandy Scordo and many experts in the field.
