After two indifferent outings, the Anthonians came up with a stunner to beat Royal on first innings by 55 runs at Katugastota.
One day one, Royal totalled 190, a moderate score, considering the quickness of the outfield. Five batsmen did the hard work but no one reached 50. Two of them were guilty of throwing their hand away by lofting to long off.
The Anthonians had a shock start being two for two. However Sumera Jayasinghe (86) and Theeksha Gunasinghe (60) put on 116 for the fifth wicket and prised the game away from Royal’s grasp. Paceman Himesh Ramanayake bowled a telling spell to take five for 31. Left armer Manula Perera had three.
