Hinoon, Suranga, Hashim and Lafir qualify for quarters

Four cueists S.I. Hinoon of MICH, S.L.M. Suranga of SLPA and Wazeer Hashim of AAC won their pre-quarter final encounters played in the morning session yesterday at the Otters AC billiards table to qualify to the quarter-finals of the Colombo District Billiards tournament.
The three frames pre-quarter final saw Hinoon and Hashim winning their matches with ease against N. Dissanayake of Orient and M.H.M. Hilmy of MICH while Suranga and Lafir underwent some anxious moments before pulling off wins against M.C. Martis of MCA and D.B.I. Ranasinghe of Air Force. The remaining pre-quarter final matches were in progress which was scheduled to end in the evening.
The Colombo District Billiard tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Billiards and Snooker Association is the first of the two qualifying tournaments with the other being the All Island Lanka Plate Billiard tournament for the forthcoming National Billiards Championship where the top 16 players will contest along with the 16 top ranked players.
