Golden Rise SC, Great Star face off in Group ‘H’ Final

The Premier League 2016 Division II All-Island Inter-Club Football Knockout Tournament, conducted by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL), with the participation of more than 100 teams divided into 8 Groups, has reached its finale with Golden Rise Sports Club of Dharga Town meeting their League rivals Great Stars Sports Club of Beruwala on Sunday, October 16, at Zahira College Ground, Dharga Town/ Kelaniya Football Complex Ground. In the Qualifying Rounds, Golden Rise SC beat Ambalangoda Urban Council SC 1-0, while Vistwyke Park SC, Colombo, beat Ruhunu SC 2-0 at Matara. Great Stars SC received a Walk-Over from Weligama United SC, following their 2-1 defeat of Nugaduwa United SC at Galle. In the Group ‘G’ final at Zahira College Ground Dharga Town, last Sunday, Ratmalana United SC beat Berberyn SC Beruwela 5-4 in a penalty shootout, after the scores stood at 0-0 even after extra time. The Group Champion teams will move into the next stage of the Super 8 points table tourney.
