Team Jeep dominate Top 10 of 1st Leg
Team Jeep went on to dominate the Top 10 Leader-board at the Leg 1 of the Jeep Colombo Challenge Rally (JCCR) of approximately 400 km in 2 Stages. The 1st Stage was from Colombo to Galle passing the roughest and most challenging terrains a Time, Speed and Distance (TSD) Rally driver would encounter. The 2nd Stage was the return to Colombo, ending at the Speedrome in Battaramulla.
Leg 1 of the JCCR flagged off at the Speedrome in Battaramulla, as a part of 3 challenging Rallies that form the first ever TSD Rally Championship in Sri Lanka, with Jeep Sri Lanka from DIMO the principal sponsor. The SLARDAR 1000 Rally held in February 2016 inaugurated the championship series. During the break between the 2 Stages, Team Jeep Service Crew attended to the Jeep vehicles, assuring uninterrupted motoring.
Team Jeep 1 won the Team Award while Team Jeep 2 were runners-up, which is a testament to the capability of Jeep as the ‘Go Anywhere Do Anything’ vehicle. Overall, Nalin Premaratna, driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee came 2nd and was runner-up in the 1st Stage as well. Ajith Fernando, driving a Jeep Wrangler, was 2nd runner-up in the 1st Stage. Moreover, all members of Team Jeep were placed in the Top 10 in the overall results, where 24 drivers took part.
