This week’s column captures outfit ideas on dressing up for occasions and suggestions on how to create a simple look.

Neon Printed sleeveless Shirt

The look: It’s a classic sleeveless printed shirt, with twist of ‘Neon Pink’ which adds a touch of sophistication to the look.  The ‘v design’ print also is quite clever as it makes the body look slimmer, drawing the attention vertically. The colour combination on the top Pink, Black & White gives us many outfit ideas, rather than just one basic option

Occasion: It’s a perfect outfit idea for a ‘Casual Friday’, as it maintains perfect balance between ‘casual’ and smart. It’s also technically a shirt, so you won’t be breaking any work place ethics. But it could be worn for a night out with the right outfit combo.

How to wear it: The top itself is quite vibrant, hence the bottom should be a little subtle. It could be worn with white pants, black leggings or even a pencil skirt.

Floral printed tunic

How to wear it: The Chinese collar, beautiful print and the loose-fitting body is a perfect example of a ‘comfy’ blouse.

Occasion/place to wear it: Could be worn to a place of worship due to the subtle shades and traditional outlook. It would also be a perfect piece to be worn on vacations and shopping etc. And if you want to stretch it for versatility, it could be worn even to work on a ‘casual Friday’

How to wear it: Perfect bottom for this would be white pants/legging or skirt. But due to the prints on the blouse it could even be worn with a blue denim. Sandals would be the best suited foot wear option for this with minimal accessorizing.

Jewelled sleeveless top

The look: It’s a very simple top but the featured jewel makes it a simple and elegant piece. The ‘jewel’ affixed does most of the accessorizing, so you don’t have to work too hard in that department. With no printed texture on the piece it gives wearers an opportunity to be bold and wear printed bottoms.

Occasion: A night out or even a lunch as the colour is not too dark. It could be worn to work as the neck is quite high and could mix it up with a blazer on top. It is even suitable for client meetings and presentations.

How to wear it: This piece could be paired with basic white jeans, black or even a printed skirt. If wearing to work, add a blazer to make it more professional. But also a good note to self, would be to have the hair tied up, as you don’t want the jewel feature to be hidden.

Two collared – full sleeved shirt

The look:This is a full sleeve shirt but with detail enough to steal a second look. The ‘two collared’ feature adds a more ‘polished’ look while emphasizing that it is ‘work – appropriate’. The satin fabric is quite comfortable on the skin.

Occasion :Definite work wardrobe material. Could be a perfect piece for client meetings or a presentation

How to wear it: Since this is worn for work, it could be paired with a pencil skirt or even work trousers. But a point to remember would be, not too wear bottoms that are too outgoing as this piece itself is quite bold on its own (colour and design). When wearing try to  tie the hair up to showcase the detail of the shirt

Lace bodice cocktail dress

The look: This soft shaded cocktail dress has lace work on its bodice with a jewel embedded belt to showcase the waist. The length of the dress creates the illusion of longer legs and a smaller waist.

Occasion:  Day time wedding, even a work party like a launch or even a cocktail party with the right dressing tools.

How to wear it:For a day time event  -wear light make up and  accessories. But if worn in the night amp it a bit with makeup and jewelery.  Wear either a statement necklace or earrings and not both. The most suited shoes for this dress would be open toe ankle straps or even platforms.

A maxi dress with a ‘Jewel’ feature

The look:It’s a beautiful pastel shade maxi dress with jewel work at the bodice. The full length of the dress is perfect for a more conventional event. The pastel shade works perfectly, as it tones down the look in a constructive manner.

Occasion:  A day time wedding, as the colour is quite subtle. But can be worn  for an evening function with a darker shade  of lipstick, statement earrings and a clutch. Could also be suited for a retro themed function

How to wear it: For a day time event, best worn with light make up and a neutral shade clutch and simple earrings. A necklace is not required as the ‘quota of bling’ required has been already provided by the dress. And as mentioned before you can change around the subtle make up and accessorising if it is being worn as for an evening event
