Prince has forced his private jet to land mid journey after he fell ill. The 57 year old ‘Purple Rain’ hitmaker had been suffering with a bad flu. He had completed a concert and was flying home on 15th April when he ordered his private jet land in Illinois at the Quad City International Airport.  Price was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital. A few hours later the Prince was discharge and returned home.

Taylor Swift will receive an award named after her next month. The ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker will receive the BMI Foundation’s Taylor Swift Award and will only be the second recipient of the self name award since Michael Jackson in 1990. The BMI Foundation comprises writers and publishers of the music industry. Swift has been cited for transforming pop culture through her songs along with her personal conviction and commitment to create a standard that values and respects music for everyone.  Taylor Swift began her career as a Country singer and very soon was transformed into the world of pop music and has been one of the leaders since.

Pop singer Katy Perry looks set to take control of a former Roman Catholic convent in Los Angeles. She has been locked in a battle with the former occupants of the convent – the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Los Feliz who wanted to sell the premises to a restaurateur. But a Los Angeles Superior Court judge on 13th April approved the archdiocese’s motion to block the nun’s choice. Perry is said to be paying $14.5 million for the buildings.

Robbie Williams is back in the studio with his old band Take That. Reports from the UK suggest Williams is co-writing tracks that will be included on the Greatest Hits album which will come next year to mark the 25th anniversary of Take That. Williams is also expected to join the group on their 25th anniversary tour in 2017.

Drake the rapper from Canada has scored his very own UK No:1 song with ‘One Dance’. The dancehall/electro- R&B track was digitally released on 5th April. ‘One Dance’ debuted on the chart at 21 last week and then rose sharply to the top of the chart. ‘One Dance’ had a combined 72,000 sales when it reached the top of the UK chart. The song is co-penned by Drake under his real name Aubrey Graham along with Paul Jeffries, Noah Shebib, Ayodeji (Wizkid), Balogun, Errol Reid and Kyla Reid. The track features the vocals of Nigerian singer Wizkid and Kyla from the Philippines whose song ‘Do You Mind?’ from 2009. Drake has been at the top of the UK singles chart before as featured artist on Rihanna’s ‘What’s My Name?’ from 2011.

The four piece pop rock band DNCE scored their debut hit with their debut release ‘Cake By The Ocean’ as it made its way to the top 10 on the UK singles chart at No: 9. The song which bears a catchy hook aimed at the dance floor took eight weeks to gain ground. The single is taken from the US band’s EP ‘Swaay’.
