Ohè Island’s latest collection was ably brought to life by established female personalities of all ages who have excelled in fields such as dance, theatre, writing, art and the corporate sphere. Showcased at a fashion show gracefully eschewing all the unwritten rules of a formal fashion show and beauty stereotypes, the collection was unveiled at Salon Kess amidst a relaxed, animated atmosphere. A part of the funds raised at the show were donated to a philanthropic project which assisted in building homes for the underprivileged, the first of which was completed in Tanamanvilla.

Artist and Designer Nelun Harasgama’s latest collection was notable for swatches of bright colour, juxtaposed in the backdrop of bold blacks and whites. The handmade batik and patchwork saree collection was designed with the whimsy and technique similar to conceptualizing a painting – each saree unique in design and carefully drawn on paper before being transposed to fabric.

A breath of fresh air in comparison to fashion shows of the norm, the sarees were draped on silhouette of varying forms and sizes, reflecting the powerful diversity and beauty of Sri Lankan women.
