Semis and final this weekend
The semi-finals and the final of the 23rd Singer-MCA Premier League T+20 Super Tournament 2016 will be worked this weekend at the MCA Grounds. The tournament was put on hold from mid November 2015, due to the inclement weather.
The tournament is conducted with the six MCA Premier League teams, namely – MAS Active Trading (the league and knockout winner), Commercial Credit and Finance PLC (knockout runners-up), MAS Unichela, Sampath Bank, HNB and John Keells, Textured Jersey and DIMO, the “B” division winner and runners-up respectively were absorbed in to the tournament.
In the quarter-finals which were severely hampered by bad weather, DIMO scored and an upset one-wicket win over MAS Active Trading and all other quarter-finals were washed out by rain and the winners were determined by the toss of a coin; Unichela beat J. Keells; Sampath Bank beat HNB and Textured Jersey beat Commercial Credit.
The final will take place today (February 7) at the MCA Grounds commencing 10.30 am where the Commercialand Marketing Director Singer Sri Lanka PLC, Mahesh Wijewardene will grace the final and awards as the Chief Guest.
