Senarath Jayasundara a former president and the founder secretary of the Colombo High Court Lawyers’ Association is contesting the post of secretary of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) in a three-cornered contest for the post at the forthcoming election to be held on February 17.

His nomination was proposed by Srinath Perera P.C, Anil Silva P.C, Manohara De Silva P.C, Kushan De Alwis P.C, Shanaka Ranasinghe P.C, Titus Manatunge and Chula Bandara and seconded by senior lawyers Neville Abeyratne, Asoka Weerasooriya, Thambiah E, Ranjan De Silva and U.L.G Bandara.

Mr. Jayasundara joined the Law Faculty of Colombo University and obtained his L.L.B and subsequently earned his L.L.M. He was admitted to the Bar in 1991. He was a lecturer for the Attorneys Finals for several years and has been in active practice since taking his oaths 24 years ago.

The other two candidates are Eraj de Silva and Amal Randeniya.
