Old Bens and Kurunegala Veterans in final
Old Bens veterans entered finals of the soccer masters annual 11-a-side tournament for the third time in the last 5 years. They will be meeting the Kurunegala Veterans in the final to be played on Sunday, at St. Benedict’s College grounds , Colombo 13 at 4.15 pm. Old Bens team is captained by Donald Fernando.
On the way to the finals they won following matches: beat Dehiwela -Mt. Lavinia – 4- 0, Aluthkade 1- 0, Colpetty 4 -0, Petersons 1- 0 (quarter-finals) and Super Stars 2 -0 (semi-final).
The winner will receive the ”Tilak Peiris challenge Trophy and a cash prize of Rs 100,000/- plus medals while the runners up will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000/- plus a trophy and medals. In the semi-final Kurunegala veterans overcame Badulla veterans 2-1 in the quarter final and Negombo veterans by the same margin.
