Defending champion K.H. Sirisoma of SLPA who is seeking to win his 24th national billiards title was made to made to fight hard by M.M. Mubeen of Army in the pre-quarter final of the 64th National Billiards Championships before prevailing by four frames to three in the seven frame encounter played at the Billiards and Snooker Association headquarters billiards table at Sugathadasa Hotel in Colombo yesterday.

Sirisoma along with Imtiyaz Farook (MICH), Susantha Wickrama (Army), M.M. Jiffrey (YMBA Galle), M. Uvais (YMBA Galle) and Anil Rohana (AAC) advanced to the quarter final which is scheduled to be played today at the same venue.
The quarter finals too will be played over seven frames, the semi final will be over nine and the final which is slotted to be played on February 2 will be contested over 11 frames.
