Golden Key Credit Card Company has completed the repayments of depositors with deposits up to Rs. 10.million. The final batch of cheques cleared by the auditors was posted on January 29 and it would reach the depositors in the coming week, Chief Executive Officer of the company Dinesh Perera said.  He revealed that two separate audits had been conducted on the processing of payments, by the Central Bank and an independent Chartered Accountancy firm to make sure the payments was being made accurately. He stressed the importance of the audits as the values of the payments have reached the high value SDH category.

Hence such dual audit checks have become necessary for a safe, secure and accountable payment process, he added.  In making the above payments up to Rs. 10 Mn some payments had to be held back, due to the audits recommending further verification to be carried out on them. The instances are due data mismatches, mainly due to amount differences (Balances less than the E&Y audit report), NIC number differences, Name differences or more than one of the above errors. Most of the cheques held back would be cleared soon by obtaining the relevant documents such as the certified copy of the NIC(in case of NIC differences) an affidavit and a copy of the NIC (for name differences) etc.

The amount differences where the balance in the E&Y report is more would be released by the company without any intervention from the customer and the company had already commenced clearing cheques under the said category. There are several cheques which have come back to GK due to the depositors not being at the given address etc. Re-posting these to a new address is subject to obtaining a billing proof, Mr. Perera said.  Customers who have not received their respective payments and are within the Rs. 1 Mn to 10 Mn categories have been requested to call on telephone no 5230079 and speak to Mr. Packson or Ms. Suba to clarify the issues.
