Deloraine Brohier and Robin A. Woodruff launched their revised edition of ‘Prisoners of the Boer War’ – (the original work was published by R.L. Brohier, Deloraine’s father) on December 28 at the Dutch Burgher Union.

Speaking at the event Mr. Woodruff said that his interest in the Boer war was sparked by his purchase of a walking stick which had the inscription ‘St. Helena 1900’ which had piqued his interest.

He was informed that it was inscribed by a prisoner of the Boer war and thus began his avid interest in the subject. Ms. Brohier credits him with adding immensely to her father’s work.

Many old sepia photographs of the prisoners and the Diyatalawa camp have been included in the book, which has been designed by Nelun Harasgama Nadaraja.

‘The Prisoners of the Boer War’ will be available for purchase online and at the Vijitha Yapa bookshop.

The picture shows Deloraine Brohier and Robin Woodruff with Surveyor General, Palitha Udayakantha and the head of the Survey Institute of Diyatalawa, Mr.Dahappegama.
