George Soros here for Jan Euromoney meet
View(s):Famous capital market investor George Soros will be in Sri Lanka in January to attend the Euromoney Sri Lanka Global Investment Forum sponsored by business and finance magazine Euromoney, officials said.
Mr. Soros, billionaire chief of Soros Fund Management, will be a key speaker at this event which will see the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Central Bank’s involvement, officials said. An international audience of asset managers will attend the Euromoney Sri Lanka Global Investment Forum which will operate on a free-to-attend but by-invitation-only model which according to Euromoney, is designed to maintain the relevance and seniority of the audience.
This forum is slated to hold focused discussions on macroeconomics and investment environment, capital markets, infrastructure financing, potential in logistics as well as tourism development. Officials said that topics pertaining to ‘Colombo as the South Asia Capital Hub’ and under this sub topics on Providing capital access to Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal, Stock market performance, IPO pipeline, The role of remittances, insurance sector reform – developing pensions into local institutional base, liquidity and Sri Lanka’s banking sector and diminishing role of concessionary borrowing and the demand for syndicated loans will be dealt with.
