CIFL depositors in the dark

Much is been said and done these days about the depositors who backed the failed Golden Key and F&G companies of the Ceylinco Group, etc with them being paid at least in part and in the process of getting all their money as the courts have intervened. But what about the CIFL depositors?? I am a retiree who invested my entire savings at CIFL (nearly Rs. 2 million) to get a monthly pension having served in the private sector for over 35 years. Unfortunately in spite of our complaints to the authorities and many pleas by the depositors’ association no law enforcement authority seems to have taken our plight into consideration. The perpetrators have been granted bail but no solace in sight for the affected depositors as the cases seem to be dragging on while we suffer.

May I appeal to the President, Prime Minister and the Finance Minister to mediate on our behalf and ensure a solution to recover our hard earned money which have been plundered by a few hapless directors who have steered CIFL on a wrong track and now living comfortably while we poor pensioners are suffering. After all we also worked hard for the Yahapalanaya Government to come into power and are hopeful that they will look at the CIFL case more closely.
