Screenline Group recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Vietnam’s leading garment and textile manufacturer, Phong Phu International (PPJ) paving the way for a screen printing joint venture company in Vietnam. Colombo-based Screenline, one of the largest screen printing and embellishment providers in South Asia, offers full-service printing solutions starting from concept to launch. The portfolio of the brand boasts of leading brands and retailers such as Victoria’s Secret, Nike, Gap and Marks and Spencer. The organisation’s mission is to add value to apparel and textile products enabling their clients to offer fashionable and innovative branded product lines, according to a company statement.

PPJ International is a reputed manufacturer and exporter of garment textile based in Ho Chi Minh City manufacturing knit and woven apparel products ranging from outerwear, polo shirts, denim and bottoms for brands such as Victoria’s Secret, Abercrombie and Fitch, Lee, Replay, Esprit and JCPenny. “With the partnership with Screenline Group, PPJ International will now be able to enhance its service offering to its growing portfolio of customers,” the release said. “On the other hand, Screenline will be looking forward to sharing their expertise with new customers and embracing the opportunity offered by the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement. Vietnamese apparel manufacturers are expected to be amongst the biggest beneficiaries of this TPP. Official sources from Screenline Group have also expressed their confidence in making a contribution to the Vietnamese economy by generating new employment opportunities,” it said.

Screenline (Pvt) Ltd was founded by Nishantha Kumara in 1997 to pursue his passion of artistry in screen printing. Over the years, Screenline has evolved to become Sri Lanka’s largest screen printer and embellisher. With five manufacturing facilities in Sri Lanka and one each in India and Bangladesh, Vietnam has now become the latest market to be ventured by the company. Mr. Kumara said in the statement that “The TPP can potentially double Vietnam’s apparel and exports to the US and we want the new joint venture company to play a crucial role in supporting the expansion plans of our customers in Vietnam. The innovative screen printing and embellishment solutions offered by the joint venture company will help the Vietnamese apparel and textile industry to bring more value added products to the country”.
