PBJ’s return to state service thwarted again
View(s):A plan to appoint former Secretary to the Treasury Dr. P. B. Jayasundera as a Senior Advisor to Ministry of Samurdi and Social Empowerment has been thwarted by several senior cabinet ministers, informed sources said.
Minister of Samurdi and Social Empowerment S. B. Dissanayake’s proposal to appoint Dr. Jayasundera as a senior advisor of his ministry was rejected by the majority of cabinet ministers, sources revealed.
Dr. Jayasundera’s actions and interferences into the previous regime’s affairs and the administration of the Finance Ministry came under severe criticism from several ministers when this proposal was made by Minister Dissanayake.
The former Treasury Secretary, one of the most powerful officials in the previous regime, is under investigation on a host of allegedly corrupt issues.
