Veteran musician Visharad Fr. Edmund Tillekeratne presents concert titled ‘Prema Sanduvani’- The Symphony of Love’, a collection of his colourful, moving compositions at 6.30pm on October 25 at Bishop’s College Auditorium, Colombo.

A group of leading and popular singers will render their voices at this rare evening of music. Amarasiri Peris, Chandana Liyanarachchi, Kasun Kalhara, Surendra Perera, Nelu Adikari, Amal Perera, Meena Prasadani, Ravindra Alagiyavanne and Prasantha Fernando will sing a total of 21 songs most of which were written and music composed by Fr. Tillekeratne.

The orchestra lead by veteran guitarist Mahinda Bandara will be conducted by Fr. Edmund himself.

A versatile and accomplished lyricist and composer, Fr. Edmond continues the legacy of well-known Christian religious leaders like Fr. Moses Perera and Fr. Marcelline Jayakody.

However ‘Prema Sanduvani’ is probably the first ever public musical evening performed by a priest in Sri Lanka.

“The songs that are to be performed are all about different dimensions of love that are part of divine love or God’s love,” said Fr. Tillekeratne speaking to the TV Times. “However these songs can be enjoyed by anyone who belongs to any different religion,” he added.

The evening will comprise songs that included in his previous CDs and cassettes namely ‘Yovun Ridma’; ‘Nattal Tharumal’, ‘Pahan Ridma’, ‘Paduwawey Pela Hara’, ‘Premaye Mahimaya’ and ‘Santa Jude Gee Saraniya’.
