Petar in close TT win over Rajiva
View(s):Petar Bukovala, a German national attached to the SriLankan Airlines scored a hard fought win in the Men’s Veterans Singles over Rajiva Wijetunga at the recently concluded 57th Mercantile Open and Novices Table Tennis Championships at the S. Thomas’s College Indoor Stadium tables.
This veterans event drew the spectator interest as both veterans showed their prowess with nippy footwork and powerful smashes that were placed to the both corners of the table along with solid defence.
In the Open Men’s and Women’s Singles events former National champions K.S.T. Chalitha of Seylan Bank and Kalpani Herath of MAS Intimates scored easy victories to emerge winners. In the Novices Men’s and Women’s Singles Gimhan Walisundera of MAS Intimates and Binuri Ariyaratne of SriLankan Airlines stood outstanding to win their events respectively.
