Vidyaratana UC, Pilimatalawa Central best from the rest
Vidyaratana University College Horana and Pilimatalawa Central came out on top when they emerged champions at the Men and Women’s

Youth Boxing Championship to clinch the General Jagath Jayasuriya Challenge Trophy which concluded at the Sports Ministry Gymnasium Boxing Ring.
The champion Vidyaratana team bagged four gold’s, two silver and two bronze medals while Royal BC and Vidyartha shared the second slot winning a gold, silver and a bronze medal each and Kingswood came in third.
The Pilimatalawa Central team secured two gold medals and silver while second placed Narandeniya Central bagged two gold medals and a bronze and Seevali winning a gold,

G.W.M. Manaram of Kalyana Pradeepa Vishwa Vidya Pitaya and I.P.R.S. Ilanagaratne of Bandaranayake MV Veyangoda were adjudged the best boxers’ in the men and women’s category while K.G.K.M. Karunasinghe of Peradeniya Central and R.P.Y. Chamodi of Seevali Central took the best loser’s prize.
Chief Guest at the closing ceremony was W.P. Mendis a reputed boxer, coach and referee who was also the best boxer of the Layton Cup boxing meet in 1990 and a four time national boxing champion.
