Trinity advanced to the semi-final of the Under 19 limited over when they defeated S. Thomas’ by 16 runs in the Singer Under-19 Schools Limited Overs quarter-final encounter played at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona yesterday.
Trinity skipper Raveen Sayer winning the toss and electing to take first lease of the wicket was helped by useful contributions coming from Hasitha Boyagoda (49), Arjuna Jayasinghe (40) and Sanogeeth Shanmuganathan (34) to make a modest score of 171.
Later they succeeded to defend their score through the bowling efforts of Duvindu Tilekeratne, Raveen Sayer and Dilan Jayalath who together shared seven wickets between them as they combined to bowl the Thomians out for a score of 155.
