McLarens and HSBC advance to finals
McLarens Group and HSBC ‘A’ advanced to the Final of the 12th Ceylon Cold Stores PLC sponsored, ‘Elephant House Lemonade’ Trophy, MCA ‘D’ division 40-Over League Tournament 2015.
In the two Semi Finals played on last Saturday, McLarens Group scored a comprehensive five wickets win over Expolanka Group, while HSBC ‘A’ scored a comfortable 52 runs win over David Pieris Motor Co.
After Randika Fernando (4 for 4 in 3.4 overs) and A. Solomon (3/40) restricted Expolanka to a meager 124 in 28.4 overs, McLarens raised to their target in just 25.4 overs scoring 127 for 5.
Asheal Kariyawasam figured prominently for HSBC ‘A’ with a fine double (41 not out and 5 for 33 in 8.2 overs) in their win against DPMC.
HSBC ‘A’ sent into bat, put up a respectable score of 209 in 40-overs helped by good contributions from Prageeth de Zoysa (49) and S. Subasinghe (45).
DPMC in reply wilted under Kariyawasam’s intelligent bowling, werw dismissed for 157 in 36.3 overs.
