McLarens Group, Expolanka Group, David Pieris Motors and HSBC ‘A’ advanced to the semi-finals of the 12th MCA Division ‘D’ 40-Over League Tournament 2015 played for the Elephant Lemonade Trophy.
Last Saturday’s quarter-finals were hampered by rain but McLarens got through by their virtue of holding the higher position in the league round points table while Expolanka went through on the Duckworth/Lewis Method. McLarens by holding the higher position in the league table qualified for the semi-finals against Hilton Colombo Residencies, who finished second in Group ‘B’.
In the remaining two quarter-finals played on Sunday under perfect weather, David Pieris Motors romped to a comfortable 7-wicket win against Nations Trust Bank while HSBC ‘A’ recorded a hard-fought 23-run win over AIA Insurance. The semi-final lineup will be as follows; McLarens Group vs Expolanka Group at MCA and David Pieris Motors vs HSBC ‘A’ at Thurstan ground.
