A Theatre festival featuring a collection of plays that represent early and modern Sri Lankan theatre and comedy and serious plays will be held from March 20 to 22 daily at 3.30 pm and 7 pm at the Lionel Wendt Theatre, Colombo 7.

The festival will kick off with experimental playwright Dhananjaya Karunarathne’s “Acid Wessa”, a unique theatrical conception based on the thesis of cruelty against cruelty, destruction against destruction, love against love on March 20. The play which is rated by the Sri Lanka Censor Board for merely adult audience is played by Kaushalya Fernando, Jagath Manuwarana and Priyantha Sirikumara.

On March 21, Dayananda Gunawardena’s evergreen plays “Nari Bena” Samaga “Jasaya saha Lenchina” two plays will go on the boards on March 21.  The two plays feature Bandula Wijeweera, Rodny Warnakula, Sarath Kulanga, Tharanda Kumari, Ratnhasheela Perera, Sunil Thilakaratnhe, Nilmini Kottegoda, Jayanath Bandara, and lndika Jayasinghe in the cast.

“Madura Jawanika” Dayananda Gunawardena another popular play will be staged on March 22. Jackson Anthony, Bandula Wijeweera, Rodney Warnakula, Madhani Malwaththa, Rathnasheela Perera, Tharanga Kumari, Indika Jayasinghe, Wasantha Gunawardena, Buddhika Ranaweera and Jayanath Bandara.  The festival is organised by Jude Srimal and tickets are available at Lionel Wendt Theatre and all seats have been box planned.
