The 2015 edition of ‘Kinnara’ organised by the Hewisi Band of S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia took place last month at the college Chapel steps. Attended by a crowd of over 2500 attendees, the show once again raised funds for the activities of the school’s Hewisi band.

The S. Thomas’ College Hewisi band was formed in 1979 and this series of concerts was begun in 2009 to promote the genre among young music enthusiasts. This year several school bands from Colombo and Kandy also took part in the event, along with Chundikulam Girls School and St. John’s College from Jaffna.

The Chief Guest for the evening was Ravibandu Vidyapathi, while Hiran Wijewardene attended as Guest of honour. The S. Thomas’ College Hewisi band is led by Stefan Jayasundara, with training from Suraj Peiris, choreography by Eranda Jayawardene supported by the teacher in charge Charitha Fernando.
