Ragama CC outclassed Chilaw Marians by six wickets with a day to spare in the SLC Premier Plate cricket encounter concluded at the Colts ground yesterday. Ragama CC having dominated the opening day’s play bowled out the Marians for a low score of 127 and ended the day on 136 for 7 to continue to hold the upper hand on day two.

Ragama CC, resuming on their overnight score went on to make a score of 176. Chilaw Marians batting the second time with a deficit of 49 runs almost made a repeat performance of their first innings.

They found the left-arm spin combination of Amila Aponso and Sajeewa Weerakoon, who along with Sanjaya Fernando and Nilanka Premaratne, too hot to handle and succumbed to a score of just 132.

Ragama CC left with a simple run chase of 84 runs had little difficulty in achieving it as they were guided by an opening wicket stand of 51 runs between Udara Jayasundara and Nilushan Nonis which helped them reach the target in the 17th over.

A knock of 125 inclusive of 11 boundaries and half dozen sixes supported by half tons from Thilina Kandamby and Kavindu Kulasekera saw SSC come out on top against Air Force SC on day two at Braybrooke Place.

SSC in reply to the Airmen’s score of 185, resuming from their overnight score of 75 for 3, posted a formidable 374. Air Force SC batting the second time ended the day on 84 for 1.

Saracens SC took a first innings lead over Colts when play stopped on the second day at Reid Avenue. Saracens SC having made a score of 232 on day one succeeded to restrict Colts, who continued from their overnight score of 61 for 1, to reach 214.
