Manzil brothers, Anan and Abdullah of Trinity College Kandy displayed maturity as they portrait their potential as future national paddlers at the inaugural All-Island International and Semi-Government Schools Table Tennis Championship held at the S. Thomas’ College Indoor Sports Complex in Mt. Lavinia recently.

The competition was conducted by the Ping Pong Academy. Anan, 14 years of age, who won the main event, the Under-21 Boy’s Singles beat Lakmal Pradeep of St. Peter’s College Colombo.

He won the final by a runaway score of 11/3 and 11/1 to clinch the title in straight sets and secured runner-up position

In the Under-15 Boy’s Singles event. He lost to Chathura Gunasekara in the final at 3/11 and 9/11.

Abdullah won the Boy’s Under-12 title for the second consecutive year beating H.D. Ranasinghe of S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia in straight sets, after scoring 11/3 and 11/9. A. Mudalige also from Trinity College won the Boy’s Under-10 Singles championship. The young paddlers were coached by G.M.D.S. Kumara.
