The Sri Lanka 7s national rugby team is certainly in for treat as they will get the opportunity to compete against three of the top Union sides in a Pan Regional 7s tournament which is scheduled to be held on the February 28 and March 1 in Sandakan, Borneo in Malaysia.

The Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU) has obtained the blessings from the IRB and the tournament will be contested by six men’s and six women’s teams over the said two day period where Sri Lanka has been invited to take part.

The men’s draw is slated to comprise three of the top seven Asian sides along three of the top Union sides which are still to be confirmed.

This tournament will hopefully enable ARFU teams to experience a competition at a top level which should stand in good stead to improve their game and gain that valuable experience going into the Olympic qualifying event which is scheduled later on in March 2015.

Ross Mitchell, ARFU Operations Manager had intimated this to the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union in an email sent on Friday.
