Woman leader, 3-man gang of vehicle thieves arrested
View(s):A woman who led a gang of vehicle thieves was arrested along with three male accomplices from a location in Wattegama, Ragama, yesterday, police said.
Two vans and a car stolen by the group were also recovered by sleuths ofm the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
According to police, the suspects are alleged to have vanished with the vehicles after hiring them from rent-a-car companies.
The vehicles’ outer appearance were later changed and the vehicles sold to unsuspecting buyers, according to police.
The suspects were produced before a local magistrate and remanded till October 24.
