MCA Sixes this weekend
QP Employment for the first time has come forward to sponsor the MCA Open Tier ‘A’ and Tier ‘B’ Six-a-side Cricket Tournament to be held this weekend.
The tournament will be simultaneously held at the MCA, D.S Senanayake and Thurstan College grounds, commencing 8.30am.
Today the tournament will be continued from the quarter-finals onwards at MCA and Thurstan College grounds, commencing 8.30am.
The 12 teams playing in the Tier ‘A’ segment (played on turf) are defending champions HNB, MAS Unichela ‘B’, MAS Unichela ‘A’, MAS Active Trading, MAS Silueta ‘A’, MAS Silueta ‘B’, Dialog Axiata ‘A’, Hayleys Group ‘A’ and ‘B’, Singer Sri Lanka PLC ‘A’ and Commercial Credit and Finance PLC.
34 teams have attracted the Tier ‘B’ segment, to be conducted on matting wickets.
In the top half, the following 17 teams will play at D.S. Senanayake College grounds:
Singer SL PLC ‘B’, Brumby’s International, Stafford Motors ‘A’, Astron Lanka, Sri Lanka Telecom, Asia Assets, Asian Alliance, Amana Takaful ‘A’, Heshan Flex, Media Vision, Star Lanka Shipping, A. Baur and Co. ‘B’, Hilton Colombo Residency ‘B’, LB Finance, SriLankan Airlines, Pearson Lanka ‘B’ and Chartered Bank ‘B’.
In the bottom half, the following 17 teams will play at Thurstan College grounds.
Hilton Colombo, Stafford Motors ‘B’, UniLever, Assetline Group, Aitken Spence Group, Dialog Axiata ‘B’, Amana Takaful Insurance ‘B’, Gummi Lanka, Colombo Dockyard, Janashakthi Insurance, McLarens Group, Std. Chartered ‘A’, Hilton Colombo Residency ‘A’, Sierra Information Technology, A. Baur and Co. ‘A’ and the sponsor, QP Employment.
The special awards on offer for both segments are for the best batsman, best bowler, best batsman hitting the most sixes in the tournament, man-of-the-tournament and man-of-the-final.
