The band ‘Sonic’, though they are three years old in the music scene, is comparatively much talented and experienced out fit. A journey, as they say, is just as integral in the overall experience, as the final destination. As an outfit, the band abides by this premise at all times, and has taken its listeners and fans on a ‘sonic’ journey through pure unadulterated musical ecstasy, over the past three years. The solid foundation the band is built upon comprises their wide repertoire and an unparalleled live act. Music lovers can catch these guys every Saturday night at the Taphouse by RnR (Dutch Hospital Precinct), weaving their special blend of sonic sorcery.

As a group of individuals emerging from various artistic and music backgrounds, they have expended their energy in collectively fine tuning the sound of the band; hence, the final sound is one that is refreshingly unique and is truly a spectacle to behold. Weddings and dances constitute a large portion of the band’s performances. They have also performed at venues as varied as the Bentota Beach Hotel, Breeze Bar (Cinnamon Grand), ‘Floor by O’ and the Margarita Blue (Galadari).

What truly sets them apart is the manner in which each performance is tailored to suit the occasion, the client, the venue, and all the other vital elements that often come together in the creation of an eventful and unforgettable night. The band leader, Sandun De Silva, had the following to aid: ‘I would like to thank my parents, Jayantha de Silva and Victoreen de Silva, of the band Pearl, for their unrelenting support over the years. Furthermore, I would like to thank Tusita de Alwis, Senaka de Fonseka, Dulip Soysa, Jith Warnakulasuriya, and Shehan Perera of Anno Domini, for helping the band in various ways.

A special mention should go to Uncle Aruna (Aruna Siriwardena), who helped me immensely during my formative years as a drummer, and has afforded his guidance to this day.’
You are certain to see and hear more of these guys in the near future.
