‘Ape Kattiya’ to transport water to Polonnaruwa

‘Ape Kattiya’ will carry water to drought stricken Polonnaruwa today, Sunday, August 24. ‘Ape Kattiya’ is a voluntary organisation founded in 1994 by government servants working in Polonnaruwa assisted by people in the district.

Their membership includes the then government agents, additional government agents, DRO’s and others of government service.
On August 24, the members of the ‘Apey Kattiya’ will visit Dimbulagala, Pinburethawe and Maguldamana with eight water tanks of 1000 litre capacity and thousands of cans of drinking water. The President of the ‘Apey Kattiya’ is Ameradasa Gunewardena, who was the Government Agent of Polonnaruwa sometime back.

He will be assisted by colleagues and Valisundara K.Gamage in Polonnaruwa.
