Perera twins Thashan and Haveen guided St. Joseph’s to a rousing 27 run victory over Thurstan in an All-Island division one Under-17 game played at Thurstan grounds.

In a low scoring game restricted to 45 overs, St. Joseph’s taking first lease of the wicket slumped to 69 for 7 before brothers Thashan and Haveen came together and added a useful 30 runs to help the visitors pass the three figure mark and reach 109 for 9 in 45 overs.

Chasing 110 to win Thurstan were wrecked by the right arm medium pace of Thashan who accounted for five wickets in his nine overs.Twin brother Haveen joined the fray and picked up two wickets as the home team was bowled out for 85 runs in 41 overs.

Danuja Weerasinghe top scored for the home team with 22. The win was the fifth for the Darley Road School who have remained unbeaten in the tournament.
