With the intention of uplifting football in Sri Lanka, the Korean Football Association (KFA) will spearhead in inaugurating the Korean Under-19 Friendship Junior Football Championship. This occurred after the President of Korean Football Association, Chung Mong Gye together with his Vice President, D.D. Kim visited the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) office in Colombo during an official tour to Sri Lanka.

Mong Gye met the FFSL President Ranjith Rodrigo and discussed the development plans and progress of Sri Lankan football while promising Koreas assistance in many possible ways to uplift the game in the country. As an initiative the Korean Under-19 Friendship Junior Footbal

The officials of FFSL and KFA further discussed matters while exchanging goodwill gestures towards the development of the game here in the island nation.
