The inter-club Under-23 cricket tournament 2014 organised by the Sri Lanka Cricket is scheduled to commence on June 6. Thirty six teams will take part in the tournament with 14 teams in Tier ‘A’ and 22 teams in Tier ‘B’.

Negombo Sports Club has been promoted to play in the Tier ‘A’ this year.

Sri Lanka Cricket had introduced a new rule to include two Under-19 players and two Under-20 players in every final playing XI of every club. This new rule has been introduced to expose more youngsters in competitive cricket.

An official of the SLC confirming the introduction of this new rule said, “Two Under-19 and two Under-20 players should be included in every final playing XI. There is no question even if the whole team comprises of Under-19 players”.
