The ‘Yal Devi’ train service which was suspended for the past 30 years is scheduled to resume its services to Jaffna from March 2014. At present, the trains on the Northern Line are operational up to Kilinochchi”. Also noted, government statistics signalling that the “economy of the Northern Province grew at a rate of 22 per cent in 2012, which is well ahead of the country’s average growth rate of 8 per cent”.
