A stamp and a book were released in remembering 30th death anniversary of yesteryear singer Dharmadasa Walpola who made an immense service to Sri Lankan cinema and music scene.

Mr. Walpola who contributed with a large number of evergreen Sinhala hits died on Christmas day, December 25 in 1983. Started with ‘Prema Tharangaya’ singing ‘Honda Hondama weya Lowa’ in 1953 Walpola made a big impact in Sri Lankan cinema music. Remembering the death anniversary a stamp and first-day cover was released and a booked titled ‘Dharmadasa Walpola- Jeewithaya saha Geethaya’ (Life and Song) authored by Kapila Kumara Kalinga was released at Mahaweli Centre on December 19.
