Mobitel recognized at inaugural Project Management awards

Sri Lankan celco Mobitel has been recognised at the inaugural National Project Management Excellence (NPME) Awards 2013, conducted by the Project Management Institute (PMI) Sri Lanka Chapter, where the provider received the award for “Best Project” for te completion of the initial phase of its Stage VII Network Expansion.

Further, according to a statement, the “initial phase of the Stage VII network expansion is primarily focused on developing mobile network coverage in rural areas which have enabled the general public with better access to telecommunication services”.
The statement also noted that the “NPME Awards was held for the first time this year by PMI to recognise and honour outstanding Sri Lankan management professionals of Project Management discipline”.

Quoted in the statement, Mobitel’s General Manager for Projects and Network Planning Viresh Dassanayake commented; “This is a remarkable milestone for us at Mobitel with our innovative resource planning mechanism which works through a strong public – private partnership”.
