Mobile phone maker E-tel has captured more than 25 per cent of Sri Lanka’s smartphone market, according to a recent statement by the brand’s local agent Brantel.

Announcing the launch of its newest local offering, the E-tel Curiosity i8 smartphone, the statement also noted that this phone was “expected to expand the smart phone market further by driving conversions from basic and feature phones”. Further, it alsoemerged that this new E-tel product, priced at Rs. 22,900/-, and named after the Mars Curiosity Rover, offered a “5-inch 16M multi-touch TFT capacitive screen, super-fast 1 GHz dual core processor with 4 GB ROM and 512 MB RAM and Android Jelly Bean 4.2 operating system”.

Additionally noted, the E-tel smartphone range currently offers i4, i6 and i8 product variants.

Quoted in the statement, Brantel Chief Executive Bishri Latiff commented; “E-tel phones are designed in Hong Kong and manufactured in three top ten ranked manufacturing facilities in China that produce branded smartphones for the European and US markets. These manufacturing plants guarantee the same high level of quality, consistency and performance… As a result, the E-tel brand has become known for features, performance and looks that are on par with the best names in the business, with comprehensive after sales support that is now acknowledged as among the best in Sri Lanka”.
