Popular IT exhibition INFOTEL 2013 kicked off at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre last week, with the event scheduled to end Sunday evening. Early crowds at the event were drawn to stalls set up by the Ministry of Defence, which provided visitors the ability to try their hands at simulation type exercises, including electronic rifle and flight simulators amongst other novel innovation, courtesy of the organisation research and development unit. Other early audience favourites included the Police CCTV stall, which featured a

loop of accident related footage, and free gaming opportunities by companies such as Mobitel.

Unique this year was a centralised space designated offered to app developers, wherein over a dozen two feet by two feet cubicles were provided to access exhibition visitors. Companies taking advantage of this opportunity included nearby.lk, eTenders.lk, Bhasha, etc.

Also represented at INFOTEL 2013 were big brands such as Microsoft, HP, Nokia, etc which offered up a larger spectacle, both in terms of bigger stalls, models, and devices. (JH)
