“Divi Surakina Hela Osu”, a book on Ayurvedic medicine by veteran journalist and award-winning author, Asuntha Edirisooriya will be launched on behalf of the literature month.

The book is a compilation of articles from the “Divi Surakina Hela Osu” series which unfolded in the Sunday Lankadeepa newspaper, based on information provided by the Deputy Director of the Ayurveda Teaching Hospital Borella, Ayurvedic Medical Officer Danapala Hettiarachchige.

The benefits of many Ayurvedic herbs and traditional food items such as Nelli, Delum, Kurakkan, Kunkuma, Bees’ honey, Margosa, Cinnamon, Mur-unga, Beli, Ginger, Sandalwood, Nika, Kalka, Komarika and fresh milk are detailed in the book. Information on various different kinds of medicinal oils, and tips on household Ayurvedic medicinal treatments that would come in handy in daily life are described in simple language.
