The Institute for the Development of Commercial Law and Practice in collaboration with the Engineering Design Centre of the Faculty of Engineering of University of Peradeniya has scheduled a seminar on the theme ‘Arbitration as an ADR Mechanism’ on 14th September at Hotel Tourmaline, Kandy.

K. Kanag-Isvaran PC, Justice Saleem Marsoof PC, Deputy Solicitor General Arjuna Obeysekera, Dr. Ananda Ranasinghe and the Secretary General of ICLP Ms Shehara Varia will be the resource persons. The focus of the programme will be mainly on the Arbitration Act No.11 of 1995, the New York Convention and the role of the Judiciary in the Arbitration process.

“With the mega development projects taking place in the country, disputes have become inevitable. As arbitration has become the most opted ADR mechanism for dispute resolution in these contracts, the familiarity in the process and the skills is a must.
